Pay roughly half the price of a new lift and still get about 80 percent of the performance and finish. That is the real-world value we deliver with our reconditioned scissor lifts at Above All Equipment.
The Real Question Buyers Ask
You need a reliable lift that raises your team safely and gets the job done every day. The choice often comes down to a new scissor lift or a reconditioned scissor lift. New is appealing, but budgets are real. Reconditioned is technically used, yet when done right it can be a smart investment that performs safely and looks great.
I am Keith from Above All Equipment. We recondition lifts in-house with a level of detail most shops skip, and we are transparent about the tradeoffs so you can buy with confidence.
Why Reconditioned Scissor Lifts Deliver Serious Value
- Price advantage in larger sizes: roughly half the cost of new
- Performance: about 80 percent as good as new for most applications
- Safety and reliability: built to lift safely and effectively
At the end of the day, the job of a lift is to lift you. A properly reconditioned scissor lift does that safely and consistently, without the new price tag.
Inside Our Reconditioning Process
We go deeper than a quick wash and spray. Our process focuses on the systems that matter for safety, uptime, and clean operation.
- Hydraulic system reset: we remove the hydraulic tank, steam clean the valve body, and reassemble. Steam cleaning the valve body is a detail most shops skip, and it makes a difference in performance and longevity.
- Lines and leaks: any hydraulic lines that are weeping or cracked are replaced.
- Filters and fluid: we install a new filter and fresh hydraulic fluid. If a tank shows even minor cracking or seepage, we often replace the tank itself, since a new tank can be more cost effective than wasting expensive fluid.
- Finish and decals: we sand, prep, and apply quality paint with correct OEM-matched colors. We use the legit Genie blue so your lift does not look dark or off, then apply new decals for a top level finish.
The result is a reconditioned scissor lift that looks sharp, runs clean, and works hard.
When Buying New Might Be Right
We sell far more reconditioned units than new because the value is hard to beat. Still, some buyers prefer new equipment for reasons like corporate procurement standards or access to a factory warranty. One note from the field. Newer models often carry more electronics, which can mean more warranty trips compared to the simpler systems on many legacy models. If you want the latest electronics and a factory warranty structure, new can make sense. If you want proven design and strong value, reconditioned is usually the win.
How Long Will It Last?
Whether you buy new or reconditioned, a well-maintained scissor lift can serve you for up to 20 years. Use it as intended, keep up on routine service, and please do not beat on it with a hammer.
Used vs Reconditioned vs New: Quick Takeaways
- Reconditioned is used, but thoroughly refreshed where it counts.
- Expect roughly half the price of new on larger platforms, with around 80 percent of the performance and finish.
- Our process targets the hydraulic system, lines, filters, fluid, paint, and decals for safe operation and a professional appearance.
- New lifts add a factory warranty and modern electronics, which can also introduce additional service touchpoints.
- Either path can last decades with proper care.
